Montana State Capitol
Designed by Bell and Kent, the Montana State Capitol was constructed from 1898 to 1902. Later extensions were added from 1909 to 1912 under the consultation of Frank Andrews and Company of New York.
From 1999 to 2002, SLALCO restored and replicated both the interior and exterior lighting. During and early "remodel" of the Capitol in the 1950s-60s, most of the historic lighting fixtures were sold at auction and later discovered in storage crates in Virginia City, MT. After the the state re-purchased them, the architect and SLALCO thoroughly examined them before creating condition reports and budget estimates. Some fixtures were never found and required replication from historic photos, such as the House Chamber chandeliers.
